Alan,

Yes. You have to either be or become an IEEE member to chair the working
group. You (or anyone else working on PWG standards) would qualify. It
costs ~$250 per year.

Hi Don –

Haven’t corresponded with you in a long time. Not saying for sure I am
volunteering for this, but I have two questions:

1. Do you have to be an IEEE Member to lead this activity?

2. What would leading this activity entail?

I think we should still keep IEEE Std 2600 active; definitely want to keep
active at least 2600.1 and 2600.2 because they are still being used for
certifications. Let me know and based on your answers I will seriously
consider it.

Speaking of common criteria....

IEEE standard 2600 needs action to remain active. The dot standards will
need action a little later.

If there is a desire within the industry and someone is identified to lead
the effort, I will put them in contact with the appropriate volunteer
leadership in IEEE to start the work.

Let me know ASAP.

By the way, IEEE 1284 is also expiring and no one has stepped forward for
that one either.
