These MS Word sources did *not* follow the recommended template
for RFC sources (RFC 5385).
Tom Hastings or Bob Herriot did a print to plaintext (via a long-gone
MS text driver I've forgotten the name of) which produced just awful
results (some lines with dozens of fragments delimited by widowed
CRs inline).
Then we cleaned up the text with my C tool "overx.c" (attached). Then we
cleaned up control and 8-bit characters with my C tool
"cscan.c" (attached). Then we searched for remaining overlength
lines (greater than 72 characters) with my C tool "maxln.c" (attached).
Unfortunately, Google didn't help me find the tool that I know exists
to convert published RFCs to XML2RFC markup format.
