Hi,

[For review during our WIMS WG session next week at PWG F2F]

Based on review during WIMS teleconferences and email, an updated
PWG Power Management Model is posted at:

 ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/wims/wd/wd-wimspower10-20091007.pdf / doc
 - Clean version with line numbers

 ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/wims/wd/wd-wimspower10-20091007-rev.pdf / doc
 - Redlined version with line numbers

This version defines all intended content - minor issues of
conformance requirements remain - also, more use cases
would be desirable.

Cheers,
- Ira

Changes made to create 7 October 2009 version (Interim Draft)

the word “usage”) with “power consumption”, for clarity (but not in

terminology in US Energy Star and other government documents

element definitions, adding explicit usage guidance, per WIMS WG

WIMS WG (redundant with Power Log group)
Technical – Deleted LastLogID from Power Monitor group, per WIMS WG
(association class would be too costly in DMTF CIM mapping)
Technical – Deleted LogPolicyID from Power Log group, per WIMS WG
(association class would be too costly in DMTF CIM mapping)
Technical – Reduced PowerCapabilitites class from REQUIRED to
RECOMMENDED, per WIMS WG and editor’s judgment (to preserve

(supported states)
Editorial – Renamed IsAcceptingJobs to MayAcceptJobs, IsProcessingJobs
to MayProcessJobs, and IsValidRequestPowerState to
MayRequestPowerState in Power Support group, per WIMS WG
Technical – Deleted PowerStateMessage from PowerSupport group, per
WIMS WG (due to expanded usage and content of message – not a single,
fixed message)

Power Request group, per WIMS WG (not useful information)
Technical – Deleted RequestStatusString from Power Request group, per
WIMS WG (only useful in Semantic Model WSDL binding)
