The P1394 printer working group is chartered to define a specification and develop a protocol layer for the IEEE-1394 High Speed Serial Bus to facilitate the delivery of print data from a source to a target device. This effort resulted in IEEE Std. 1394.3-2003. Alan Berkema, Chairperson. |

Character Repertoires, is a set of interfaces and best practices to allow a print client to learn about characters that can be rendered in a printer. It defines a naming mechanism for a printer to announce what character reportoires it is able to render, as well as best practices designed to reduce complexity for lightweight clients. This work project resulted in PWG 5101.2-2004. Elliott Bradshaw, Chair. |

Projector
and Display
Management (PDM), The
Projector & Display Management working group is developing a model
of the management information that is relevant to installed video
projectors and large-format displays. The working group will
first establish an SNMP MIB for the management of projectors and
displays, then consistent semantic guidelines for embedded web servers
and other management protocols, and a web services schema.
Why manage projectors? If projectors and digital displays are to function as utilities in conference rooms, lecture halls, retail venues, sports stadiums, etc., they must work reliably. Just as printers always need paper and toner, projectors always need lamps, fans, air filters, the right zoom, the right focus, the right color settings, the right input connector, etc. The health and setup of such resources of installed projectors and displays need to be managed remotely. This work project is currently in hibernation. PDM Wiki: Rick Landau, Chairperson |
