IPP Interoperability Testing Event #1 was hosted by Microsoft, September 23-25, 1998 and run by Peter Zehler.

The results of the Interoperability Testing Event were:
- 16 companies participated
- Attendees were: Auco, Epson, Fuji Xerox, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, i-data International, Japan Computer Industry, Lexmark, Microsoft, Novell, Osicom, Ricoh, Sun Microsystems, Tektronix, TR Computing Solutions, and Xerox
- 16 printers 8 clients
- 96.9% successful pair-wise testing

- The e-print test suite from TR Computing Solutions.
- The IPP prototype client and IPP server test tool from Xerox.
