Cloud print introduction
Legacy offerings - the sender of the print data and the printer resided
within the same network or were directly connected. The sending device
through an application or middleware such as a driver connected directly,
and formatted the output for the print device. With the introduction of
cloud computing, mobile devices and remote print locations new print
solutions have been developed. Many of the new print solutions are
dependent on the operating systems or network topologies, or are specific to
a single vendor. This standard introduces a set of requirements that will
enable printing from a variety of client devices, provide compatibility with
multiple operating systems, and allow for secure transversal of firewalls to
any compliant system or output device.
