Attached is the summary of the Internet Fax WG meeting held Tuesday
November 9th
Qualdocs BOF Summary
Approximately 36 people attended the 1 hour meeting. The Meeting was opened
by Richard Shockey who began with a review of the basic goals and
objectives of the proposed working group. There was a short review of the
results of the 1st BOF on QUALDOCS held in Minneapolis this spring
outlining the problem statement as it related to current document
transmission technologies in the IETF principally IPP and Store and Forward
Internet Fax [RFC 2305-2532]. A review of the proposed charter was made and
there was no objections to moving it forward to the IESG for formal WG
chartering. Graham Klyne then reviewed the
ID draft-klyne-qualdoc-goals-02.txt with particular emphasis on how it
related to RFC 2542 Terminology and Goals for Internet Fax. There was a
discussion on whether this document should be ultimately be amended to RFC
2542 or moved forward as a separate document. Consensus was that the
qualdocs-goals document should move forward as a separate
document. Potential milestones were reviewed and discussed and the chair
informed the group that there there is some work being done on a QUALDOCS
Protocol Draft as it relates to IPP in particular, coming from Paul Moore
of Peerless Systems. The meeting then ended.
