IPPFax people,

I see the image format support for PDFax taking the following 'tree'
structure.

                               S
                              / \
                        B&W / \ Color & Gray
                            / \
                      F ---/ F --- M
                          / \
                         J C

Where:

S is CCITTFaxDecode (Required by all implementations).
F is FlateDecode (Lossless compression).
J is JBIG2Decode (Lossy and lossless compression).
M is Masked Image. This format may also (optionally) be used with
format C.
C is DCTDecode (JPEG).

All formats in the tree above the format in question must also be
supported, i.e. to support format 'M', formats 'F' and 'S' must also be
supported. 'LZWDecode' has been left out of this diagram as it has been
encumbered with some IP that makes is undesirable. 'FlateDecode' was
added to PDF for this purpose.

Comments?
