Tom: First, yes the below list of media names need to somehow be
represented in the media name spec. This list was generated by a search
of media names which were use in printer drivers over the last 10 years
from a variety of printer manufactures. The names were originally provided
by the various printer manufactures to match medias that could be used with
the device. Since these name are used in existing drivers and in many
cases match the documentation that came with the printer or the actual
packaging on the media it would be best to add them with short discriptions
than elimanate them.

If a user buys HP PREMIUM PHOTO PAPER will they know to select GLOSSY,HIGH
GLOSS, SATIN, OR SEMIGLOSS. We have found it is best to have the common
names.

Harry and Mark,

Could you be more specific on your issues and concerns? It would help to
have them in writing, i.e., on the mailing list before the meeting.

If there isn't time and/or interest as part of the UPnP meeting, we might
be
able to use some time right after the UPnP meeting finishes on Tuesday.
Shivaun said the following on 3/14/01 about ending times:

The meeting will start at 8:30AM on Monday and end on Tuesday at 2:30PM.
So
maybe we could use some time after 2:30 PM on Tuesday?

Tom

Mark's mail on the subject seemed to be asking for (a lot) more Media Type
names. We need some descriptions of each of these additional types in
order
to put them in the standard. Are there other issues? No one seemed to
like
the All In One Proposal that Bob Herriot and I proposed. Were we barking up
the wrong tree? Here is Mark's mail on the subject:

Subject: Media List

I think there are still some issues with the media list that would be good
to discuss in Portland. I can anticipate, however, this slipping through
the cracks if Shivaun doesn't want to use uPnP time for the discussion.
There is no real IPP time in Portland...

I don't really care when it happens, but can we agree to schedule time to
try and close the media list issues in preparation for last call?

I will be representing Mark V's comments and desire for a broader usage
scenario than just a simple list.

I figure Don will bring his roll of lubricated toilet paper :-).
