[IPP] proof/sample print implementation

Gents,

I played around with a device (currently in the field) that supports proof-print (sample print) and stored job. It does not support these features via IPP, because as yet there has been no demand for it to do so.

Note the copies value can be set to either 1. Auto or 2. A numeric value from 1-9999.

When a job is sent, it prints 1 copy, and then waits for user to select "Print" to print the remaining copies.

When set to Auto I would have expected the device LUI to prompt for # of copies, but it does not, it just prints 1 copy. When copies is set to 2 or more (on submission), it prints the sample copy, and then when the user selects to print the remaining copies, it prints number number of copies specified at submission, not the number of copies minus 1.

There is also a totally separate feature, called Save for Reprint. I include the Web Page here which I think should be self-explanatory. Since this device is in the field now, I don't believe there is an issue with me sharing this. But if you want to benchmark, please feel free to purchase a Xerox MFD d:o). Notes about Save Job for Reprint:

1. Copies works the same.
2. There is a "Save and Print" option, which makes the feature actually work similarly to Proof Print.
3. There is a string field for Job Name, which is used to store for later recall.
4. There is a folder selection, which implies there is more than just a single list of stored jobs, a folder name other that the Default Public Folder can be created and specified when sending.
5. A secure print passcode can be tied to the stored job.

Hopefully this helps to clarify a sample implementation. This device is not a production system, I do not have access to a production system and have received little information about the capabilities of production systems.
