Hi Robert,

>From an IT architecture perspective, the Android versions prior to 4.4 had
no print service defined as part of the Android operating system framework.
A user could install a print service app, available from the Google Play
store, to obtain print functionality. They could also code a print service
using the Java support of Android as well.

When you search on Internet Printing Protocol Android, you will typically
get some hits for the apps and Java mechanisms available for enabling IPP
support in Android versions prior to 4.4.

As Ira already mentioned, Mike Sweet may have some further thoughts on
specific options for Android versions prior to 4.4 that are known to work
well with IPP Everywhere.

Best Regards,

/Paul

Subject: [IPP Everywhere Self-Certification] "Mobile devices running Android
4.4 and later come with native support for IPP Everywhere"

This FAQ https://www.pwg.org/ipp/evefaq.html states

"Mobile devices running Android 4.4 and later come with native support for
IPP Everywhere. Prior versions of Android are supported using an installable
application."

Can someone point me to this "support"? E.g., the source location or Android
documentation?

Best regards,
Robert Evans
