PDM> Projector&Display Mgt WG: Question on dates and locations for fall 2007 meetings.

Hi,

IMPORTANT - the correct September dates are:

Monday to Wednesday 10-12 September
- Linux Foundation Printing Summit

Thursday Morning 13 September
- Joint Plenary IEEE-ISTO PWG and Printing Summit

Thursday Afternoon to Friday 13-14 September
- PWG working group meetings

In order for PDM to have an extended meeting (longer
than a few hours), PDM WG would have to meet earlier
in the week _separately_ from the PWG.

And I need to know very soon, because I'm currently
working with Polytechnique Montreal to arrange meeting
rooms (on behalf of both PWG and Linux Foundation).
Our contact in Montreal (Louis Desjardins) is presenting
our meeting room requirements to the Polytechnique this
week, so we need to know if we need another meeting
room early in the week.

Cheers,
- Ira (Chair, Linux Foundation Open Printing WG)

Subject: PDM> Projector&Display Mgt WG: Question on dates and locations for fall 2007 meetings.

Everyone:

Question: can we align the Projector & Display Mgt WG meetings with the PWG quarterly meetings? That is, can we adjust our future face-to-face meeting schedule to be in the same city and overlapping days?

The Printer Working Group meets quarterly in various cities. The PWG meetings in the fall this year are

- September, week of 10-14, probably Mon-Tues, Montreal, CA.
- December 13-14, Thurs-Fri, Austin, TX.

The September PWG meeting is just three months after our June meeting, so that seems like good timing. Montreal is only a short hop from Toronto, and I believe that one can get to Toronto from almost any international city, for instance Tokyo. Is this a reasonable place and time? I think we could have PDM working sessions during the end of the PWG meeting Tuesday, and then continue the PDM meeting Wednesday by ourselves at the same site or nearby.

The December PWG meeting is being hosted by me here at Dell on Thursday-Friday. I have also reserved our conference center for Wednesday, so the PDM meetings could run Wednesday and part of Thursday and even into Friday if needed, all in the same location.

There is a real advantage in efficiency of scheduling, I think. It's good to know the dates in advance so we can make reservations early. On the other hand, if Montreal is not a desirable location, that might cause a problem for some of us.

Please send me votes on these two possible schedules:

___ Yes, Montreal is okay.
___ No, Montreal is not okay. How about ______________ (specify).

___ Yes, Austin is okay. (We have already discussed this and tentatively decided that Austin is a good site, a short hop from the major international airports in Dallas and Houston.)

___ No, Austin is not okay. How about _______________ (specify).

RSVP. Thank you.
