As I recall (early on), the IPP explicitly discussed the
desire to have IPP implementable on a standard HTTP server.
This would allow a general purpose host to serve up print
requests, particularly for back-room backbone servers.
(We had hoped this would fair well for extending the life
of Unix systems already in place.)
