    Hi,

Lots of relevant info is available at the IETF Operations
and Management (OPS) Area Home Page:

      http://www.ops.ietf.org/

Two very relevant documents for development of MIBs:

    RFC 4181 / BCP 111 (September 2005)
"Guidelines for Authors and Reviewers of MIB Documents"
    Abstract
This memo provides guidelines for authors and reviewers of IETF
standards-track specifications containing MIB modules. Applicable
portions may be used as a basis for reviews of other MIB documents.

*** This document was a perennial I-D for so many years, that it got
right past me when finally published as an RFC in late 2005

    draft-harrington-text-mib-doc-template-02.txt (January 2007)
"Template for Documents Containing a MIB Module"
    Abstract
This memo defines a portion of the Management Information Base (MIB)
for use with network management protocols. In particular it defines
       objects for managing [TODO].

[TODO]: describe what functionality will be managed using this MIB
module. It can be good to mention the protocol being managed, and
whether there is a particular aspect of the protocol to be managed,
or a particular goal of the module. But keep it brief.

    *** This document looks useful

    Cheers,
    - Ira
