01/14/03 Agenda
1) Discovery - upnp-dev
2) Look at mDNS-SD examples
3) Spec review topics
01/14/03 Minutes:
0) Rev 0.95a (candidate for 0.95) was posted on the morning
of January 13 2003. This gives us a week to review before the
start of the week of PWG F2F meetings. Page turner review
at PSI F2F January 24 2003.
When reviewing this spec for the F2F please think about practical
implementation details such as how many Jobs a Target Device should be
able to support concurrently.
Ideally, at the F2F we will identify what needs to be fixed to have
a last call for comments before we promote the spec to revision 0.95
At 0.95 the spec will be theoretically frozen. Changes to the spec will
be conducted via an errata process. One exception is the WSDL itself.
The WSDL will evolve through versioning since an errata process
does not really make sense for WSDL, we really want an entire latest
greatest version of the WSDL which includes all bug fixes.
1) Looked at the upnp-dev from:
http://www.upnp.org/download/Printer_Definition_v1_020808.pdfII.pdf
The Device Description is described in section 3.
We need to define the mandatory fields for both upnp-dev and for LDAPv3.
2) mDNS-Sd examples at F2F
3) What do we need for the HTTPS port? psi-port+1 is no longer being
approved by the IESG. A different path is recommended. Dave captured the
ideas
as proposed changes to psi-spec rev 0.95a (in a separate document).
Part of this approach uses an HTTP layer header for security "upgrade"
need more details here.

General spec discussion:
Need some Normative statements on authentication:
Discovery? Normative part of spec or developer's guide?
I think discovery is what Bluetooth calls "process mandatory"
This means that, if a feature (such as a discovery protocol) is
used, it is used in the specified manner.
Interop events?
As soon as we have a few companies that are ready HP will host
an event, off cycle from PWG meetings. How many devices do we need?
Need interop test criteria such as what features will be supported
what discovery is used etc.
