I have only one minor problem with the proposal from Randy for the
"prtMagicCookie". I believe that the primary reason for using the
%s, %d, etc. in a C scanf/printf statement is to define the data type.
I understand that the agreement was to keep the entire description
in a "human" readable format. It should then follow that the
description must be only in a display string data type.

If the above is true, then the %s, %d, etc., only make the string
more difficult to read. I propose that we define two delimiters to;

1. separate the parameter name from the value

2. separate each parameter name/value pair.

Using an arbitrary selected pair of delimiters, Randy's first example
becomes:

"Line Printer Daemon (LPD); Vendor: SUN; Version: 1.37; Port: 515;
Options: W, Z, X"

This appears to be more "human" readable and no more difficult to
parse by a Management App.

Comments?
