As I'm sure you are all aware, New Orleans was hit pretty hard by hurricane
Katrina. Fortunately, the French Quarter was built on some of the highest
ground in New Orleans so it may be a little faster in recovering. While we
all expect the October meeting will remain at the Doubletree on Canal Street
in New Orleans, we have a back-up plan for the IEEE Service Center in
Piscataway NJ. I know we really don't want to have two meetings in NJ in a
row but neither do we want to try to get out of the Doubletree contract
prematurely and spend money trying to reserve another location on such short
notice. For now, the IEEE offices are just a backup but you may want to
consider waiting to make your airlines reservations until we have something
definitive from the Doubletree.
