    Hi,

The following factoid from recent HP research is fascinating. I suspect
the same is now true or soon will be for most office workers as well.

    Cheers,

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

This morning I stumbled upon the above link. It starts of with an inte-
resting factoid, apparently originating from some HP research:

"Web pages comprise 48% of printouts on home printers; word
processing documents run a distant second--the reverse of
          just a few years ago."

This would mean that it is all the more important for

     (a) Gnome users on this list to push for their browser developers to
         "get printing right"

     (b) KDE users on this list to push for their KHTML/Konqueror/Webkit
         developers "to get printing right"

     (c) we all work for pushing the Mozilla Foundation to participate in
future activities of these lists, send representatives to future
Printing Summits, work along with us and the OpenUsability.org
(Peter Sikking) efforts about a new "common printing dialog
         architecture"

We all know that most browsers do have different flaws when it comes
to generate printable (PostScript) output, some of them even to the
point of being unusable with certain web pages.

Let alone how their different UI dialogs for printing work (or not)
to let the users control their printouts.

How many of you are resorting to Internet Explorer (even via Wine) to
get decent printouts from web pages?

    Cheers,
    Kurt
