Absolutely, but we aren't talking about the *Client* address but the *Printer* address.

No, the Printer has its own link local address(es). The Client initiates a connection to the corresponding link-local address.
In many cases your Ethernet and Wi-Fi networks will be part of the same network segment/subnet, so it isn't like a link local address is only ever accessible via a single network interface...
