    Normally I'd agree with you - in fact that was the thought behind my
    original proposal. However, by creating an edge to edge feature instead of
    a margins feature, we're ignoring the common third setting (user defined
    margins) and requiring the driver to merge it's user margin function with
    the optional edge to edge feature. I think it's easier for a driver that
    doesn't support user margins to ignore that element than it is for a driver
    to do the merge (although I admit that either way it's a fairly simple
    thing to do).

    The compelling reason for me is the fact an edge to edge feature is just
    plain incomplete. It really needs to be a margins feature in order to
    completely specify all possible settings.
