I took an action item to find out if a Xerox resource was available to write
up an alternative to CONNEG for content negotiation. The idea was to use a
mechanism similar to "attribute coloring" based on document-format in a Get
Printer Attributes request. I have been informed there is no resource
available.

There was quite a bit of opposition to using a method other than CONNEG for
content negotiation. One reason was alignment with IFAX and IFAX content
feature schema(rfc2879). Another reason was ITU, FAX and IESG acceptance of
CONNEG. It was also noted that CONNEG is already specified and leveraging
prior work for content negotiation would be a good thing.
