Don, I agree it's too late for this draft. If there is interest in finishing,
however, I suggest a finishing subgroup form to address this. LMO addressed
stand-alone finishing with a high degree of detail. I would anticipate adding a
relatively simple finishing group to the printer MIB (3rd draft?) should
progress rapidly. It would depend largely on the agreed to scope (i.e.
Present/On/Off vs. length, color and position of staples).

Perhaps you should poll for interest in a "finishing" sub-group, or create a
slot for discussion in Seattle similar to what we did with UPD in San Diego?

Subject: Re: PMP> Printer MIB - FINISHER ISSUE

We made a decision in the beginning of the MIB work that we were not
going to do all the work necessary to include finishers. We simply could
not bite off that (and several other things including fonts) and ever hope
to
get done. The thought was that a separate MIB would be created to cover
finishing since it can potentially be even bigger than the printer
(physically
as well as in complexity.) Since that time, the Large Mail Room operations
group created a LMO MIF which included at least some finishing. As far
as I know, that MIF was never swizzled into a MIB.

It is simply too late to re-open that can of worms and do anything more
with finishing.
