Carl Kugler introduced (http://www.egroups.com/group/ipp/5892.html?) the notion
of "server push" notifications based on the connection already established
during the job submission.

I also assume that the notifications will have to be sent over
a channel opened from the client to the server. For me the question
is mostly whether this can reasonably be done over HTTP.
